Attorney General's Statement On Proposed Water Rate Decrease

April 30, 2009

"This rate relief is modest but meaningful -- because it sends a message that utilities can be more responsible and responsive to consumer needs. This move by one utility should be a model for others, setting a standard for good corporate citizenship when families are struggling to make ends meet.

"The Connecticut Water Company is turning down the money spigot -- seeking to lower rates, delay its next rate case and conserve consumer money. This proposal will lower annual consumer bills approximately 1.8 percent when consumers need it most."
