Gov. Malloy and Comm. Redeker Announce That Transit Fare Increases and Service Reductions Have Been Canceled
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that with the signing of the state budget adjustment bill earlier this week, bus and train fare increases and service reductions that had been scheduled to take effect on July 1 have been canceled.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Statements on Final Passage of National Popular Vote Bill
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements in response to the 21-14 vote in the State Senate this afternoon giving final approval to legislation opting Connecticut into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, under which Connecticut will allocate its electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the most popular votes. This compact does not take effect until enough states sign on to guarantee that the national popular vote winner wins the presidency.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Tuesday in Recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day, a national observance that pays tribute to local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. It is recognized annually during National Police Week. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags Lowered to Half-Staff Monday in Observation of Memorial Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff on Monday, May 28, 2018 from sunrise until noon in observation of Memorial Day. As is customary for the holiday, flags are lowered throughout the morning and then raised to full-staff at noon. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

Gov. Malloy Announces $7.5 Million to Fund Clean Air Projects from Volkswagen Settlement
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is making available $7.5 million dollars from the national legal settlement in the Volkswagen (VW) Corporation emissions cheating scandal to fund clean air projects. Administered through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), eligible projects must reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions across the state and meet other program requirements.

Gov. Malloy: Federal Grant Will Aid New England States in Creating Coalition to Collaborate on Defense-Related Business
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island have received a joint grant of $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment to create an organization that will be known as the New England Regional Defense Industry Collaboration.

Gov. Malloy Announces Media Companies ITV America and Wheelhouse Entertainment Establishing Operations in Connecticut, Creating Hundreds of New Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that award-winning entertainment production group ITV America – the largest independent producer of non-scripted entertainment content in the United States – will be relocating a significant portion of its business operations to Stamford. Additionally, newly launched Wheelhouse Entertainment – founded by entrepreneur and media magnate Brent Montgomery – also will be using Stamford as one of its bases of operations. Combined, the two entertainment companies plan to create approximately 450 jobs in Stamford across areas of finance and operations, production, and post-production, and more.

Gov. Malloy Announces Major Investment to Revitalize New London State Pier
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state will make a $15 million investment as a first step toward revitalizing the Connecticut State Pier in New London for potential use in the deployment of equipment and workers for the seven offshore wind projects currently planned in the northeast. The funding, which is subject to approval from the State Bond Commission on June 1, will include demolition of selected structures, site improvements, storm water treatment and drainage improvements, upgrades to increase laydown capabilities, construction of a heavy lift pad, improvements to load bearing capacity, and replacement of mooring dolphins.
