• 2/24/2014 AG Jepsen Joins Colleagues in Bipartisan Support of Senate’s Proposed Patent Reform Legislation

  Attorney General George Jepsen has joined with 41 other state and territorial attorneys general in expressing support to the leadership of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committees for patent reform legislation. Already passed in the House, this year’s legislation is aimed at reducing the abuse of Patent Assertion Entities (PAEs), also known as “patent trolls.”

• 9/4/2014 AG Jepsen Joins Coalition Defending Federal Greenhouse-Gas Emissions Standards for Power Plants

  Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut and 11 other states, the City of New York and the District of Columbia joined in a court action to support the Environmental Protection Agency’s commitment to set greenhouse gas emissions standards for new and existing fossil-fuel electric generating power plants. The Attorney Generals’ action is in response to a challenge by a coalition of 12 coal-producing states, led by West Virginia, who challenge the terms of a 2010 settlement agreement under which the EPA agreed to enact the regulations.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz today announced that the state has reached a settlement agreement with Frontier Communications Corporation in connection with its acquisition of AT&T's phone, broadband Internet and television services in Connecticut.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and the state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today announced an $850,000 multistate settlement with TD Bank, N.A. that resolves an investigation into a 2012 data breach that affected thousands of consumers and helps to ensure that protections are in place to help prevent future incidents.

  State officials have asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to grant a rehearing of a notice issued last month that allowed ISO-New England's eighth forward capacity auction (FCA 8) results to go into effect without any determination that the auction results were just, reasonable and free from the exercise of market power.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner William M. Rubenstein announced today that Connecticut, along with 49 other States and the District of Columbia, has reached a settlement with AT&T Mobility, LLC to resolve allegations that the company participated in a practice known as "data cramming."

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein are advising Connecticut residents who may be holding gift cards, certificates or store credits to the retail establishment Delia's to use their gift cards as soon as possible. The company recently filed bankruptcy and has announced plans to close its stores by early next year.

  The state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority will receive $4.5 million for consumer assistance and education and enforcement activity related to third-party electric suppliers under a settlement agreement with electric supplier Energy Plus Holdings, LLC, Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz said today.
