• 2/16/2018 Gov. Malloy, Attorney General Jepsen and Commissioner Klee Statements on the EPA's Denial of Clean Air Petition

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen, and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee released the following statements following the proposed decision of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to deny Connecticut’s Clean Air Act Section 126 petition related to the Brunner Island Power Plant:

• 9/26/2018 Connecticut Joins $148M Settlement with Uber over Delayed Data Breach Reporting

  Connecticut, with 49 other states and the District of Columbia, has reached an agreement with the San Francisco-based ride-sharing company Uber Technologies, Inc., to resolve the states' investigation into the company's one-year delay in reporting a data breach to the states and to its affected drivers, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

• 6/21/2018 State Initiates False Claims Act, Breach of Contract Lawsuit against Norwich Behavioral Health Provider

  The state has initiated a lawsuit alleging violations of the Connecticut False Claims Act and breach of contract by a licensed professional counselor from Norwich who is accused of billing the state's Medicaid program for services not provided, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby said today.

• 3/15/2018 AG Jepsen Urges Legislative Committee to End Fees for Credit Freezes in Connecticut

  In testimony submitted to the General Assembly's Banks Committee today, Attorney General George Jepsen gave his support to legislation that would prohibit the country's three credit rating agencies from charging fees to place, temporarily lift or remove credit security freezes.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that the State of Connecticut has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Hartford-based Travelers Companies, Inc. to provide supplemental financial assistance to current and former Travelers policyholders who file claims and receive awards to remediate their crumbling concrete foundations through the state’s new captive insurance program.

• 6/18/2018 State Reaches Settlement in False Claims Act Lawsuit against Waterbury Behavioral Health Provider

  The state has reached a $200,000 settlement with a Waterbury behavioral health clinician, along with two behavioral health practices he owns or controls, that resolves a lawsuit alleging the providers engaged in a long-term scheme to defraud Connecticut's Medicaid program.

  Connecticut has joined with 20 other states and the District of Columbia in asking a federal appeals court to overturn the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rollback of net neutrality rules, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

• 12/20/2018 Conn. Initiates Lawsuit against Stamford-based Purdue Pharma, Executives and Board for Company's Role in Opioid Crisis

  Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that the state has initiated a lawsuit against Stamford, Conn.-based Purdue Pharma L.P., Purdue Pharma Inc., and several current and former members of Purdue's management and board of directors alleging that they designed, financed and waged a pervasive and aggressive campaign to mislead doctors and patients, claiming that prescription opioid medications manufactured and marketed by the company were safe and effective and strategically downplaying risks of addiction that they knew were inherent in their opioid products.

• 9/11/2018 State Sues Florida-Based Compound Pharmacy, Former and Current State Employees, Alleging Illegal Kickback Scheme

  The state has initiated a lawsuit alleging violations of the Connecticut False Claims Act orchestrated through a kickback pyramid scheme involving a Florida-based compounding pharmacy and several individuals, including former and current Connecticut state employees, whose prescription drug costs are covered by the taxpayer-funded Connecticut Pharmacy Benefit Plan, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

  Connecticut today joined a coalition of attorneys general, cities and the bipartisan U.S. Conference of Mayors in filing a lawsuit seeking to block the Trump Administration from demanding citizenship information in the 2020 dicennial Census, said Attorney General George Jepsen and Secretary of State Denise Merrill.

  The state and federal governments have reached a joint settlement resolving allegations that a Waterford psychologist submitted false claims for behavioral health services she never provided to her Connecticut Medicaid patients, Attorney General George Jepsen and Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby said today.

  A behavioral health and substance abuse treatment provider with locations in New Haven and Bridgeport and its owners have agreed to pay $1,378,533 to resolve a joint state-federal investigation into allegations that they submitted false claims for payment to Connecticut's Medicaid program, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby said today.
