Joint Statement on Budget Agreement
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Senate President Martin Looney, House Speaker Brendan Sharkey, House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz, and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff announced that they have reached an agreement on a biennium budget. The package takes Connecticut into the future by funding transportation, providing important property tax relief, and funding vital programs.

Malloy Administration Statement on Today's Takata Airbag Recall
In light of today's announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that nearly 34 million vehicles made by 11 companies are being recalled for replacement of faulty Takata-made airbags, Governor Dannel P. Monday: Gov. Malloy Participates in UConn's Downtown Hartford Campus Groundbreaking; Speaks on Second Chance Initiatives at Events in Hartford and Danbury
On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in the groundbreaking and flag raising ceremony for UConn's new campus in downtown Hartford. The campus will be anchored at the former Hartford Times building and will open for classes in fall 2017 with about 2,300 students and 250 faculty members.

Thursday: Gov. Malloy Participates in Workforce Development Roundtable with U.S. Labor Secretary Perez
On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congressman Joe Courtney, business leaders, educators, and advocates at Electric Boat in Groton for a roundtable discussion on workforce development and efforts to deliver the tools necessary for residents to compete for 21st Century jobs. Tuesday: Gov. Malloy Discusses Impact of "Second Chance society" Initiative on Youth Offenders
On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the Connecticut Juvenile Training School (CJTS) in Middletown, where he will hold a news conference to discuss the impact that his "Second Chance Society" initiatives will have on turning lives around. The Governor will be joined at the news conference by police chiefs and representatives from Connecticut's major cities.

Monday: Gov. Malloy Promotes New England Regional Highway Safety Initiative; Meets with Business Executives to Discuss Importance of Upgrading State's Transportation System
On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join highway safety officials and State Police from all six New England states for a news conference in Windsor to launch the region's first-ever coordinated enforcement mobilization aimed at reducing speed-related crashes, injuries and fatalities, which will be launched immediately following the announcement. Vehicles used in the enforcement mobilization will be on display.

Gov. Malloy to Sign Legislation Creating Long Island Sound "Blue Plan"
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that he plans to sign legislation he introduced earlier this year establishing a Long Island Sound Blue Plan, which was unanimously approved by the State Senate last night in concurrence with the House of Representatives, which passed the bill in April.

Friday: Gov. Malloy Participates in Hammonasset Beach Groundbreaking; Tours Attractions on the Shoreline
On Friday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of major improvements at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, including a new Meigs Point Nature Center and improvements to West Beach, which was damaged by recent severe storms. He will be joined by Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Rob Klee, Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Melody Currey, First Selectman Fillmore McPherson, park advocates, and other state and local officials.

Friday: Gov. Malloy Visits Classrooms in Bristol and Southington; Kicks Off the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge
On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend the kick-off event to launch the 2015 Governor's Summer Reading Challenge and honor the winners of the 2014 challenge. The Governor's Summer Reading Challenge is an annual program co-sponsored by the State Department of Education and the State Library to encourage reading among school students across Connecticut. The Governor will be joined by Education Commissioner Dianna Wentzell and State Librarian Kendall Wiggin.

Gov. Malloy Announces $1.6 Million for Pre-K Classrooms in Twelve School Districts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Bond Commission is anticipated to approve nearly $1.6 million in grants at its meeting on Monday that will be used to improve and upgrade early childhood education classrooms across the state.
